June 2007
Dear
Customer,
Re: 3D Secure and the changes you will find when you
next place an order in the Coconut Connections online store (and most other
online stores).
|
Many
of you may already be aware of the new rules from MasterCard and Visa regarding
online transactions (known as “Verified by Visa” and “MasterCard
SecureCode” - collectively known as 3D Secure), as many online stores
have been using 3D for some time. |

|
 |
MasterCard
have issued a rule which states that all Maestro cards MUST have a full 3D
Secure Authentication in order for the transaction to be authorised.
We
will therefore be switching on 3D secure on Saturday 30th June
otherwise payments may well be declined by the issuing banks of cardholders.
3D Secure is the online equivalent to Chip and PIN where the customer is
required to enter a password before the transaction process can be completed.
How will this affect you?
In
a 3D Secure transaction, you must register for Verified by Visa (VbV) or
MasterCard SecureCode (MSC) with your issuing bank if you haven’t already done
so.
This basically means that when
you place your order you will be asked to register your card before continuing
with the transaction. You will need
to choose a password and this will only have to be done once for all your online
transactions via any merchant that uses 3D Secure.
The
transaction process is as follows:
*
You
will add products to your shopping cart as usual.
* At
the checkout stage when you pay by Visa, Visa Delta, Visa Debit, Maestro or
MasterCard, you will be redirected to your issuing bank where you will need
to enter your password.
* The
bank will verify the password and the transaction will continue as normal.
If you wish to discuss this or prefer to order off line please call us
on 01494 771419 - we're here to help!
Kind
regards
Coconut
