Organic RBD (refined, bleached & deodorised) Coconut Oil
In answer to one of our most frequently asked
questions, it appears that organic certification of coconut
oil does not disqualify the refining, bleaching and deodorising process. Therefore
certified organic RBD coconut oil is available. However, as far as we can ascertain there are negatives.
To keep the price cheap and the processing margins low, there will be
exploitation on a human level in the making of copra. The process may also risk some form of hydrogenation in
the form of trans fatty acids. There is also
speculation that nickel could be used as part of the process and traces of this
and other chemicals remain even in certified organic RBD coconut oil. If
the oil you have has no fragrance or flavour then it
may be refined, bleached and deodorised.
